Since canoeists haven't used this forum since September I thought I would raise the question of its relevance. I never know whether to post here or in the regular Q forum. At least by advancing the issue there may be some posts. Ha Ha!!!

You raise a good point, John. Worth considering. Maybe a few other private forums, as well.

My question is, how does one get a private forum removed? I started the "Home Cooking" forum a few years ago, and it is pretty much a dead pig in the water. Would be happy to see it go away!

There was a time when this forum was really hopping.

I loved using it because I don't share anything not well known on the other Q forum. On this one I shared all my secrets.

It seems people just migrated away from it. Maybe it's possible to get it going again??..

Do you want to know where you can scoop out big lakers with a landing net from May til August in the Q? I can tell you. I know where there is a 6 star campsite with towering Pines and a perfect sunset every night. Nobody uses it but rabbits come around weekly and manicure the grasses to keep it like a putting green.

Mark, if you want your Home Cooking private forum to go away, I'll let Adam know and he'll wave his magic wand. "Poof!"... gone.

Yes, it is a slow forum. But how else would I find Frenchy's Famous Pork Souvlaki Kabobs!?

The fact I am 2 months late to the party on this reply maybe is an argument to remove this extra forum? Maybe?

This was started by poster Fishguts who hasn’t posted on this site for many years. He used to keep it active with posts…it continued strong for a while in his absence but has died down for sure over time.

I am not sure who manages it now or does the invites? It initially was invite only or by being suggested by another member. The intention was to be able to talk about fishing spots, camps, message caches (although QPassage started an additional message cache site as well by invitation) that you normally wouldn’t post on the whole internet. At least that’s what Patrick had told me.

Most of the extra forums now on here seem to be just ask to join and you get in…that wasn’t Fishguts intention for this one. So if that’s what it’s become then it probably isn’t much different than the Quetico one now? I used to converse with him frequently but he seems to have dropped off, and I suspect he is no longer with us…hope I am wrong about Patrick.

What to do with posts people made that they thought were more private?

I come here when I’m asking for more particular or specific information about the Q than what might be appropriate in the general Quetico forum. Although I’m sure the overlap between this forum and the general Quetico forum is quite broad.

I too had similar thoughts regarding fishguts. I hope I’m wrong and that he’s doing ok. I always enjoyed his joking responses about Quetico being all fished out :)

As an FYI... Adam took over the role of "Group Leader" for this private forum since Fishguts wasn't active anymore. Pat is a great guy, but the time comes for all of us when we slowly drift away from the board.
