Like to recommend A Canoeist's Sketchbook by Robert Kimber. Great essays on the canoeing life. Kimber paddled mostly in Maine and Labrador, but there are a number of the essays that will resonate with the BWCAW crew. The sketches come partly from the essays, and from the artwork of Jerry Stelmok, a long-time builder of wood-canvas canoes. (The Joe Seliga of Maine). A good read.
