Well. . .I am sure that I am biased in this, but he IS an awesome kid! LOL! And we did have a great time with him. We took him on a one-week Michigan vacation last year, to show him a few of the "attractions" of our beautiful state, and we had great fun with him then, too. Grandchildren are a lot more fun when you get them AWAY from their parents, by the way.

Very nice to see your trip with Robert. It's great that you can spend time with him in this way. Loved the pics especially the eagle and loon. Oh, and that was a cute snake too!
Thanks for posting and hope you have many more of these getaways with your grandchildren.

Thank you, callofthewild,
We started with our granddaughter when she was just barely four. (birthday May 7th and we took her in mid-June.) Because of some rather difficult physical limitations for us, we don't take them out into the BWCA, but we find a cabin week gives us enough time for "adventures", while still having safety overnight. If we were a bit younger and more physically fit, we would take them on canoe trips. We did take our granddaughter on an overnight at a Forest Service campsite when she was five--it was great fun, too!
We have hoped that perhaps their parents might want to do a family trip with us sometime, but so far it hasn't happened. In the case of our daughter-in-law, I doubt it ever will. :-) But we are blessed that our children trust us with their children (both have only children) for 8-12 days at a time, too.
