So now one of my crew-mates went from 'trying to avoid gluten' to conditioning his body to reject gluten. Half my menu trashed.
One thing is can you fry fish without batter or breading of some kind? I am a seasoned cook, but fish is something I have little experience with.

I did a search on Google of Gluten Free Fish breading and found several of them. So you may want to do a search yourself and see if any are available at your local grocery store or health food store.

quote sdebol: "Sorry, I have to ask: What exactly does "conditioning his body to reject gluten" mean? "
What I mean is that without any gluten problems he decided to go gluten free as part of his diet. Our bodies rely on the bacteria in our gut to digest gluten properly. If there is no gluten, those bacteria will die off. He loves his diet, swears by it, and good for him.

Odd diet idea. But baked fish is great. If fried is on the menu, re-hydrated egg wash, corn meal and rice flour 60/40 with spice to taste. I like garlic, pepper, salt, and cayenne. Works OK. Not as good as wheat flour, but is gluten free (my wife is intolerant)

Yes, there are gluten-free breadings out there. As neutroner mentioned, you can always bake them for your crew-mate. A couple of other ways would be to steam or boil them. You just have to get a little more creative for flavor. A friend of mine says they sometimes boil their fillets in Mountain Dew.

You could also try bringing a bucket, so that your friend can shake the sand out of his VaJJ...
www.takeakidoutdoors.com There is a kid just waiting for you to ask him or her to go fishing or camping or canoeing...All you have to do is ask them. (I know, i was one of them)
