Starting to plan for next year, since we just got back from our last trip of this year...
Went to Fraser in June and had a great time. Really like the area and the proximiny to the Kek trail. Thinking of comimg back. What are people thoughts on Kek vs Fraser. I assume that Kek is busier? Hows the fishing compare. We really like day trips, are there some good ones out of Kek (besided the obvious Kek trail...) Whats the best way to get to Kek? Thanks

I spent a night on Kekakabic Lake. Then traveled through Strup/Wisini lakes to Frasier and through to Thomas. The sites on Kek in the south area near the portage to Strup are not real nice with exception of the island site. I believe the north sites about mid-lake and west are real nice. It was a big lake. I didn't do any fishing. The cliffs on the east end of the lake stand out in my memory. A day trip to Eddy Falls is possible.
I believe Highplainsdrifter has a trip report on the area.
I guess I'd pick Frasier because I didn't stay on that lake and also because day trips to Thomas and east to Raven and maybe Boulder would interest me.

I've been to both, I'd head to fraser good walleye fishing , Kek only has lakers, although I did catch a pike in a shallow bay in Kek but that is rare. There are lots of nice lakes around Fraser, Sagus good walleyes, go to PMA Raven for adventure and some decent laker fishing.
We made a loop I've attached the map. We went the first week of June fishing was outstanding, Caught tons of lakers and lots of walleyes. If you have any questions about this route feel free to e-mail me

Thanks again Mike, youre maps are why we went to Fraser this year, and we had such a good time I think we will be going back. The first day, the lake was packed (we got the last site) but everyone left right away and we had it to ourselves after that. We had some trouble finding the walleyes or pike, but I'd like to give it another shot. We caught some nice Lake Trout fishing ciscos from shore, and trolling and really enjoyed the day trips to Raven and the Kek Hiking Trail. Also searched the big Island and found the old homestead (and asparagras patch), which was really neat. I think we are going to aim for the first week of June next year to hopefully hit better fishing, and less bugs. I think we will also try to go in on a Fri or Sat to help us get our choice of campsite.

For the typical paddler I suggest 4 days travel time. It will not require a hard push to reach a good overnight stop early enough to secure a site. Not being pushed also allows some sightseeing or fishing time. I have usually planned 5 days with SAK the first day then short hops to Kek, Fraser and Ima and back to Moose the last day.
