Lake Trout can certianly be caught that time of year, but it's alot easier earlier. My experience has been, once the annoying buys are out, the lakers have moved deeper. In which case they're harder to catch...at least for me.
In the Neighborhood, South Temperance is good for walleye.

Not trying to discourage you (and have never fished Cherokee myself) but I believe it has a reputation for being easy on the eyes and tough on the fishing. I like trolling a purple tail dancer when hunting lakers.

A friend of mine did an opener on Cherokee AWHILE back and caught some Dandy lakers but ,, i know that isnt the norm on Cherokee.
June 10th , ya their gonna be deep. with modest gear i would try vertical jigging start at 30' and go deeper. if you have sonar look for schools of baitfish, trolling , troll with the deepest divers you got ,Large spoons , right down the middle.

Lake trout advise in general...
Get out trolling early in the morning when the lake is dead calm. See a loon out in deep water diving... troll over there. Watch for small bait fish rippling on the surface... troll over there. Use your locator to find deep water drop-offs... troll along there. Fish the calm side of the lake for lakers... fish the windy side of the lake for walleyes. It's okay to troll your bait 10' above lake trout... they'll come get it. When trolling, make a 90 degree turn every 200 yards... just cause it helps.

I've been to Cherokee four times and completely agree with this assessment. By eyes - I assume you mean the scenery and not walleyes. No Walleyes in Cherokee, but yes gorgeous lake.
