Site ZC on Camel Lake is one of my most memorable stopping places in Quetico. Up Cutty Creek in the heart of the park, supper caught from shore, Lady Slippers blooming, hummingbird visits, and one of the most comfortable sites I've ever stayed at.

Camel Lake is an awesome destination. I over-nighted on Camel Lake in August of 2012 and I tend to think it was the same site. Do the pictures below look familiar Goose?

I'm pretty sure this area is gonna be next for me. I've read good things about several of the lakes in that area. Solitude shouldn't be hard to find either.

The last time I was on Camel was two summers ago. Funny thing was, we met two other groups there, plus another one headed in. Sometimes it seems like the places you expect to find the most solitude end up being the most busy.

HS: same site. Tent by FP threw me at first, we put ours way back in the woods. Lots of room, nice pines.
TomT: All of Cutty Creek is great. You won't be disappointed.
Arctic: We hadn't seen anyone for a couple days, coming over from Jesse and Sturgeon, then see a solo paddler on Camel, then no one again for a couple of days when we got to Kahs. It's a crap shoot.
Couple of shots from further up Cutty Creek -- it's "wild."

Camel and Cutty Creek do rock. Did that area last year. We had lunch on the campsite below. Very nice! Not much for campsites between Camel and Baird Lake along Cutty Creek though. Cub and Eag are neat, but no good sites from what we saw and we scoped a lot of them.
We stayed at a site in the lower arm of Camel (XD). It was OK, but not nearly as nice as ZC.
We didn't see much at the YK location for a site. Across the way, YY looked OK.

Looks familiar!

That's what I thought Goose. ZC is a great campsite indeed!
BTW, the photo of that portage looks familiar also. It appears to be that steep, rocky portage on Cutty Creek.

quote tumblehome: "Hey Goose, when did you see the solo canoe? Date?"It was the evening of June 6, 2011.(a Monday) From my report: "About 4:30 a solo paddler WITH A DOG came within earshot from the east, and asked if the other campsite was open. We said it was and he paddled towards it as we remarked how late it was getting and how we’d seen no one else for over two days." --Goose
