Are there any outfitters/base camps real close along the Loon on the Crane end of the RR track portages? Came out of LaCroix across the two "Track Cable Portages" this Spring and looked like a good area to bring family (who wouldn't do bottle portage or for that matter paddle more than 3-4 miles. The ride down the Loon from LLC to Crane was cool! (So was riding after a week of paddling) and the last RR track had Candy Bars!!! Made another impression! But on the way out, I visualized bringing family up and they would mutiny if I took them up EP16 to Crooked. Loon River: Quetico or BWCA or both? Boat Rentals/canoe packages real close on Loon??

I'm not sure this is what you are looking for but Zup's is on Lac La Croix.....a short boat ride from the Loon Portages.

Yes! Rode out with them. Good pilot! All the way to Crane through both rail portages and still had lower unit! Tricky and Very scenic along Loon. Looking for something close to west end. Zupps lodge looked like the Tajma Hall after a week out!! Nice people. Said his Dad used to own Curtain Falls at one time. What a back Forty!!
