Anybody planning a trip for opening weekend (Walleyes) from the north side? Still a bit worried about ice, though the weather seems to be looking a LOT warmer over the next 2 weeks... 4 weeks isn't too long!

I am not a fan of extended weather outlooks due to the inaccuracies of forecasting.
But... here's the 14 day forecast for Atikokan. Below average temps most of the time.

As an editorial: If I had a trip planned for the middle of May in Northern Q, I would just wait this out and see where we end up in a few more weeks. The sun's intensity is a larger player overall than the air temp in melting ice. So is wind.

And if I had a trip planned for mid May in the northern Q, I would also be nervous. I'm going into Beaverhouse June 8 and I'm a little nervous. Not a lot, a little.

Yep... May 18 for Stanton Bay and paddling south... Did I say paddling? Would like to know how much ice is on those lakes now. 30-36" maybe?

I don’t know, but would estimate at least 36”. I just came home from Gunflint Trail yesterday and all of the lakes had at least 36”, covered with snow. A lot can happen as we know, but having an alternative might be prudent.
